Droid Review

Why do you need a Droid?

The question has been posed…has the iPhone met its match in the new Droid from Motorola and Verizon.  It certainly appears that it may have.  From the minute you take the new Droid out of the box and turn it on, you almost can’t help but to be impressed.  It has the expensive, weighty feel to it that lets you know that it’s jam-packed with goodness on the inside.

The Droid has a 3.7 inch touch screen that allows you to do almost everything that you need by touching the screen or flicking the screen to scroll through the contents that are on that page, much the way that you can on the iPhone.  The screen is very responsive with virtually no lag time between your touch and the action being preformed.  In addition the screen will automatically turn to adjust to whichever way you happen to be holding the phone.

At the bottom of the touch screen are four buttons which will allow you to go back a page, go to the home page, search, or to the menu screen.  These buttons are arranged a little differently than most of Motorola’s products but they’re completely functional with no problems noticed at all.

Should you need to do more than the touch screen will allow, the Droid comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, allowing you full access to typing like you’re used to.  The keyboard is exposed through sliding the touch screen up where it firmly locks into place and the screen moves into horizontal mode.

The Droid comes with a 5 Megapixel camera attached with an LED flash to be able to get those shots in the dark and the camera is quite a step up from what comes in most smart phones now days.  While it comes with loads of functionality and settings for the camera option, making sure that they’re all in sync can be a little bit of a pain, but for catching a candid shot of you and your friends, this camera will do everything that you need it to.  The video function on the Droid is strong as well, producing crisp clean videos.

The Droid already has an amazing 10,000 applications plus that are accessible which lets you find an application for almost anything that you need including a level, a metal detector and countless games.  All of your email will sync up easily to the Droid and you can stay up on your Facebook and Twitter accounts very easily as well.  For your social pleasure as well, the Droid comes with 16 GB of space to allow you to store plenty of music, pictures and video.

The Droid certainly has certainly taken a shot at the iPhone and many iPhone users have said that the Droid will do almost everything that and iPhone will do, and in some cases it will do them better.  See for yourself though and go down to Verizon and check one out for yourself.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
